"Dealmakers: the Most Central Actors in the Entrepreneurial Network"

Ted Zoller, Director of the Center of Entrepreneurship at UNC-Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, will present his analysis of “dealmakers”—central actors in the economy who possess serial entrepreneurial and investor experience in private entrepreneurial firms. He will show the networks of actors in Charlotte who have either founded, managed, or invested in multiple private entrepreneurial firms and who hold concurrent equity ties to multiple firms as a consequence of their serving on the boards as advisors, investors, or managers of these firms. He will show the active entrepreneurial and investor networks in Charlotte and which industry clusters have the highest concentration of entrepreneurs, investors, and the dealmakers who bridge between them.

Professor Zoller’s Dealmaker Algorithm has been featured by Forbes magazine in its rollout of a blog series of the most “connected capitalists.”

Testimony from BIG Trailblazer Member, Ryan Stone, CEO, Jetpool:

“I’ve known Ted Zoller since 2004 and the highest compliment I can pay him is that he is an entrepreneur’s entrepreneur who has disguised himself in an academic’s clothing. He has an uncanny knack for connecting entrepreneurs with the right people, be it advisors, capital sources, or board members and has directly contributed to Jetpool’s success.

Ted has developed a repeatable, validated process for connecting entrepreneurs with dealmakers in any part of the country. People who meet Ted will appreciate his ‘un-professorlike’ ability to channel his research into action leading the entrepreneur to successful results. His presentation will be one you won’t want to miss if you are an early stage startup or an established high growth firm.”
