Assess Your Business and Identify New Opportunities using the Business Model Canvas:

2012 is likely to be better than the past few years, and this session can make sure that’s the case. Business strategy is often considered an “ivory tower” experience, but the Business Model Canvas puts strategy in the hands of every leader. The Business Model Canvas is a relatively new tool used to visually describe a business and identify the key components that make it work. Businesses large and small have found it to facilitate discussion within their businesses and with investors and partners to quickly show how their companies operate.

In this 3-hour session, you will:

· Learn what the Business Model Canvas is

· Learn how to Use the BMC to identify new revenue opportunities

· Use a case study to lock in the concepts

· Challenge your business model and think through alternatives that could provide a breakthrough to new revenue

This session will be a combination of lecture and hands-on workshop in an engaging environment with other business leaders. Using the nine building blocks of the Canvas, you will work with others on a practical case example to learn the tool, and then apply it to your own business to assure you get value from the session. We will take a look at a few well-known companies to see how different business models work, and then use a game to spur ideas and innovations.
